Neymar is writing all the headlines in Lionel Messi's absence, but how
does he compare to the likes of FC Barcelona icons Samuel Eto'o and
Thierry Henry?
The 23-year-old has already scored 67 goals for the Catalan giants,
albeit only in three seasons with the club. He has played 106 matches,
which means he scores at a ratio of 0.63.
With this tally, Neymar has already outscored legends such as Henry (49
goals in 127 matches), Ronaldo de Lima (47 in 49) and Diego Maradona
(38 in 58).
Eto'o, meanwhile, scored 129 goals in 198 games for the Blaugrana and has a slightly better average of 0.65 goals per game.
On the weekend, Neymar scored a sensational goal, one which reminded
many of Ronaldinho in his heyday. The Brazil legend is also ahead of the
23-year-old when it comes to strikes for Barcelona, having netted 91
times in 198 games for Barcelona, with a goals average of 0.46.
And, of course, there is a certain Messi. The Argentine has scored an
unbelievable 418 goals in 492 matches, at an average rate of 0.85
strikes per game.
Neymar still has a way to go to reach the likes of Ronaldinho, Eto'o
and Messi, but he is on track to write his name in Barcelona's history
books.
Do you think he will remain with the Catalan giants and eventually take
over from Messi, or will he leave the club to be the main star
somewhere else?
